Euphemisms
As you all know that there is a chat filter filtering out bad words that parents don't want young people to use (like me).
Well, as you people have probably experienced, you cannot see the words with the ----, and therefore depending on how the sentence was written, it's difficult to understand what the person is saying. But then if a parent were to see bad language they'll slap the poor kid and take the game away. (And believe me, I do have a friend whose mom is like that, so don't tell me that scenario doesn't exist. He got punished because someone online, in StarCraft, said the F word, wow...)
So, instead of putting the "----" lines up there, why not Euphemisms that you can implement yourself or have it already in. For putting it in, put the "bad word" and then put the euphemism.
Example:
Oh HELL no! (GASPS!)
the Euphemism
Oh SHELL no! (Whoopee)
The F words (a.k.a. "The Queen of all Curse words", GASP!!!!!)
Euphemism
FOOK! (ha, ha, ha)
Sh!t (Gasp some more!)
Euphemism
SHAZBOT!
Ass.......
Euphemism
Donkey?
then you can put any word into the filter and put it to what you want.
My favorite example
Jerk. Now considering I have characters about Jerky (like Beef Jerky), I find that offensive to myself (not really).
The solution!
I USE TURKEY! Yay!
It can be used in a funny sense, or not and you can make it more vulgar, whatever.....
This was kind of inspired by my school language...
The people there say the F word as if it were like please and thank you. I don't like the change in society today where cursing is common language for younger people. Also that language will also have them get owned later in life, if they start spilling it out on their future "boss", they're mega screwed.
So, why not try to help influence better language? Makes people look better in a sense.

Sorry but that would mean the system would have to preread all of your sentences, and with all that coding could be spent elsewhere like actually something fun..
Plus euphemisms make the game look childish imo... and the dwarves say "Damn" every other word in Shiverpeaks anyway... What are they supposed to say? Shucks?

I said you can put it in yourself, and why would anybody bother reading your euphemisms?
so for Phuk, you can put that word in, and then make a euphemism.......
As for the Dwarves, that can't be fixed, but ti's not like your gonna go watch the video over and over just to hear it. As for players, they can say it whenever they feel like it.
And if you say that'll make the game childish, first of all, don't use it, and second, start complaining about Bork bork bork.

Okay, now on a serious note, I don't really see why this should be bothered with, yet I also can't think of any good reason why it shouldn't. So, therefore, /signed, just as long as it doesn't take priority over other things on the Dev Schedule.

I do like Shazbot a lot, but you can put any word in it (well, that's the suggestion).

/signed I like the idea of a personal filter, but it needs some fine tuning....
in town:
"Can someone help get my assassin to Borlis Pass?"
becomes....
"Can someone help get my donkeydonkeyin to Borlis Pdonkey"

Heh, some of these lines using the filtered chat remind me of a jewish mother cursing at her husband, most notably "shazbot".
"Shazbot Morty! You spent 200 dollars on a fooking IPod nano! Go to shell you donkey..."

Personally, I don't see the need. I have never found a situation where I have heard a sentence that has been sensored that I haven't been able to work out the generally gist of what they're trying to say. Take, for example, this:
"Stupid ----ing monsters! They're always ----ing killing me, even though they are ----! Or maybe I'm just ----... No, that's ----ing ridiculous. What a -----! It ----ing killed me again! That ----! I'm not playing this stupid ----ing game anymore! It's ----, ----ing ----!"
Now, for anyone who lost the point of that sentence, please go seek some form of help. Basically, what sensors do is not actually sensor anything, but it's more like <insert vulgarity here>.
Personally, I find sensors to be idiotic. More than likely the kid knows what the word is supposed to be, so why try to hide it from him? I mean, he's using it at school anyway.

However, if this happened, I would be totally for the idea. I think it would be incredibly funny to see someone ask this, or something like this.

We need a skill balancing overhaul, not some petty chat filter that anyone can turn off in 2 seconds.

Praetor...
If you read my first post thoroughly, I said that some people can't have the chat filter off, like me, or my "donkey" would be on the line. All just because someone said "son of a bench!"
Besides, it's a game, games are suppose to be fun... This is fun....
As for Meat Axe, there aren't many people are going to spell out a whole sentence like that in game so it's kind of difficult sometimes. They die... ----. That could be "Shazbot/poopoosticks/poopoohead/crap/Mr. Hankey (the christmas poo)" or "Fook/freak" or "darn/blasphemy" or "duck (used in the following context, Sick my Duck)/duct" and then the list can go on and on and on.
And I've done that myself putting up a nice 4 letter word for a sentence =D
And some people who have the filter on have no idea what I'm saying but they assume it must be something bad anyway, so why not let the bad words out in a humorous manner.
